something personal / blog pause
Maybe you remember that 6 months ago my life changed a bit. I moved in with my boyfriend and we started something new together in a new city. It was hard for us to find a nice place with enough space for us to live and work in. We found a place of which we thought was a good start. Not to grow old in or live longer then 3 or 4 years, but for the beginning is was good. It turned out to be a living hell. We had a lot of trouble with our neighbors, harassment, insults and it turned out that these houses are very bad isolated in their constructions, so we could hear everything that was going on in this building. People shouting at their children, at each other, breaking stuff. I spear you the details but I can tell you it was bad. So bad that my boyfriend and I got into fights about it until we noticed that we were not the problem but our environment. It was impossible for us to work here with those constant noises and screams. Our first place should have been something nice, we should get used to each other but it was not nice at all. We started searching for a new place and we found one! Even if this means we have to move again after only 8 months. This new place is beautiful and so quiet and in a nice neighborhood. The only thing is that we have to renovate the attic where we want out work spaces. This is a lot of work but really worth it. On the picture you see old wallpaper that is now on a wall in the attic. It is very dirty (even if it does look nice here) and it has to go… So in the next two months I'll be busy doing that and moving out of this place. I won't be drawing much so this blog will be on hold for a while. I still be posting things on (mostly) Instagram and Facebook. These are both public profiles so even if you are not a "member" you can take a look if you want to see what I'm up to. I hope to see you there and now you know also why there will be hardly comments from me on your blogs. I also try to keep my food blog running.
Hopefully I see you in a while, take care!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Ariane and her theme is "Nest". Last week I thought a lot about my mother, she would have turned 60 years old this week. It not that I'm mostly sad, I think a lot about beautiful thinks (luckily!) And at the same time I get a bit melancholic: thinking about times that never come back. Not only the special moments but at the same time the small things. Things that you never think about when it happens. I think I just mean life ;-) Of those moments you almost never take pictures. This is what this theme made me think about: leaving and changing your nest. This drawing shows my sister and mother more then 12 years ago I think. My sister loved to make crossword-puzzles and she sits at the kitchen table while my mother finishes her lunch after coming home from work. I made this drawing 7 years ago. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time to this old nest…
For more nesting (problems;-) please visit the wonderful blog of Ariane! And I wish you all a nice weekend.

little, bright things
A few weeks ago I told you here about a test with vintage, crochet coasters. I really liked it to turn these old things into something new. So I tried something different with one that was a little bit bigger. I made a lamp! And I'm really happy with it. I have to put another light-bulb in it and maybe a little plastic bird. From a distance it looks like a bird-cage. But I'm not sure if the bunny on my painting likes it…

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is my wonderful blog-friend Stefanie and her theme is "daily project". I find those kind of projects great and every year I think to myself that I should start one to, but at the same time I'm scared that I can't keep it up for one year. This year I didn't start it because so much was going one with moving to another city and that sort of stuff, I did not know where to find the time for it. But for the last two weeks I had a daily project which I introduced to you HERE. It turned out to be a bit more work so I'm still working on my "thread-thingies". Not everyday anymore, but bit by bit now. I wanted to see how it looked on our door in the hallway so that's is why I worked on it for every day. Now I can slowly finish it and do something else in between. I made one big one for the door on the other side of the hallway:

that's me
I while ago I was ask by "Sis and So" if I wanted to talk about what I do. They give creative (dutch) people who started a business, webshop or make things the opportunity to talk about that and they post it on their blog. They started this project and the goal is to post every day for one year a new post. You also have to send them a picture of you…. I don't do that often, I mostly send a drawing of myself, haha! But that would be to different from the other people who take part. So I managed to found a way to show something of myself… So this saturday it is my turn on the blog, you can click HERE but unfortunately it is only in dutch. So I give you something extra: some of the pictures who didn't make it and were you can see some more of me and my workplace. Have a good weekend!

like a thread
So this weekend I started something new. A test with some vintage, crotchet coasters (if that is the correct word…) You know: you can use them for your coffee-table or so, you find them mostly in older peoples home ;-) I prepared them with wallpaper glue so they can't bend anymore. I let them dry and then started to decorate them with thread and yarn. It is a little project for our new home, but I also got some inspiration for my own work. Lets see….maybe…this turned out to be a bit more work then I thought, as always. So you have to wait for the final results, have a good week all of you!

drawing challenge
The first drawing challenge of this new year and it is hosted by Tammie Lee and her theme is "numen": "the spirit or divine power presiding over a thing or place, or devine presence referring to the idea of magical power residing in an object or place".
A perfect theme for me to start this year! I always collected things, objects, stones or stuff that people made for me, I surround myself with them. I feel protected by them and I hope that they give me strength. They make me feel safe. To have stones or plants in my home gives me the feeling of the power that nature has, the beauty of it. And because I moved to a new place, me and my boyfriend are searching for a commination of our "spirits", to combine our little things were we find magic in. Now I think of it, that went really easy, to find places for our things and let them be next to each other. Like in the picture above. Between the stones you can see small woman made out of clay. I made them years ago for a project. These were not not the ones I used, but I kept them because they give me the felling of power-woman, like mother earth, ha!
The next picture is in my studio. It's a combination of the things I made and a drawing that Roberto made for me which is very dear to me. I look at it if a doubt myself as an artist and it makes me smile that someone who I only met through blogin made something for me, it is a positive vibe!
The last picture I like to show you are real spirits, at least I hope so ;-) They are from Finland, Africa, Greenland and again Africa. They were all gifts to me from my parents and sister. I hope they do get along, standing so close to each other. I hope their powers work together...
This time no drawing but a sneak-peak into my home. This theme fits so well in the situation that I'm in right now that I decided not to draw for ones.

I'm back!
I hope you all had a good start in the new year! Mine was pretty busy and exciting. For one week I'm now living in my new home, we are kind of settled in. My little studio is now ready to work in, my computer is running again and my first painting is up on the wall. We have still some small things do to, to fix and to decorate but we have time to do that. I try to find the time to post again here, to draw and to comment on your blogs. Maybe that will also take some time and maybe I'll show you some more of our decoration skills ;-) A new beginning this is!

play my darling play
I just found my old 3D view-master! Do you remember them? If not, take a look at my new profile-picture;-) This week it's all about taking a little break, taking care of my shop, cleaning my studio a bit and that kind of things. And while doing that I found this wonderful vintage toy and I managed to take a sort of good picture of one of the images. I'll play a little bit more with my view master and wish you a good week!

finally...and sorry!
Finally some sun and I hope where ever you are there is some sun too! That inspired me to take a picture in my garden with my pink slippers and draw my feet in them;)
And sorry that I don't leave a lot of comments on your blogs at the time. At lot of stuff is happening and I have been busy. But even if I don't comment, I still take a look at what you're all doing.
I wish you all a nice week!

drawing challenge
This weeks host is Ariane and her theme is "mood bord". I never made a mood bord in the way it's ment to be I guess. I see myself as a walking mood bord, haha! My head is full of images for different situations and thinks I want to have or do. I have a book for my collection of words and text. My door to my studio is full of images as an inspiaration for my large "pippi" drawings. I collect pictures out of newspapers and magazines. I could have show you all of that, but the line that made me think in the invations of Ariane was "any projects like the redesign of a room or painting or visualisation of a plan for the future". I made a drawing of the visualisation of the future but not exactly: only halve of the plan. The other chair is ment to be for my boyfriend. We're planning to move in together. I don't know when or how it will happen and it's pretty exciting. I'm ready for it and at the same time I'm not, so that's why I'm still alone in the drawing.
For more mood bords go the Ariane's blog and I wish you all a good week!

rabbit hearted girl
Oh I just had to show you these pictures. My rabbit Pollock became a dad, juhuuu! About 3 weeks ago these adorable bunny's were born and now I could visit them without disturbing the mother, who lives next door. 2 of them have the grey colour of the mother and 5 of them look exactly like Pollock!

a sweet memory
For the last 3 days you could visit my home and my work. Most of the local artist opend their doors for public. I put some work in front of the house, so people could see that there was something happening and that they`re welcome to visit. And yes, that's me in front of the garage;-) I put a lot of my paintings in there as you can see in the next picture:
After that you enter the sun room where I put a table with the jewelry I make and a mannequin who's wearing a t-shirt with one of my designs:
I had some really busy days but it was worth it! Lots of people visited my place and I got some really nice and good comments, some discussions, sold some things and maybe a new exhibition coming up. I just wanted to show you a tiny impression and now I have to clean the house and bring everything back to it's original place and eveything is back to normal. I wish you all a good week!

waiting room...
...for my "Atelier Spunk" sign. This is actually a part of our garage. If I have to airbrush something bigger, I'll do that in the garage. My computer is also in my studio and it's not very healthy fot it to airbrush in front of it. Behind the bike you can see that I used this wall more then once... I just liked this picture: paint and work just where ever you can!

open studio...soon
No drawing or painting this time, not much to see as well. I have to start airbrushing to make a sign and a flag. I'm taking part in an "art-tour" of our community by the end of may. 80 artist show their work and you can also visit some of their studio's. I'm opening my house and work space for 3 days. I really wonder how it's going to be but I still have some work to do. I also show my jewellery pieces and that's the first time I'll get reactions of people directly. Now you can only see them on the internet. Maybe that will help me to develop them or maybe the opposite of that and stop making them. Anyway: back to work!

and we wait a bit more
Oh nice, warm april sun were are you? I don't like complaining to much about the weather but now even I start doing that. It's much to cold over here for this time of the year, much to grey and no tulips yet. Spring is late and for now she's only inside my home.

the way to the sun...
Today my calendar tells me that spring begins. Well, let it begin already I would say! I don't see or feel much of it yet, but there's still hope of course. To say goodbye to winter I show you some picture's of Pollock in the snow. The one on the right was taken last week were we got a lot of snow after some really warm days. Pollock don't really seems to care: he hates rain and wind but he runs in the snow. But I bet he also wants some sun and juicy, green grass!

Well, I finished another one and I thought it's about time that I post another picture were you can see the size, it's been a long time;-) In my mind I already finished this one in Januar which turned out I hadn't so here it is now. And I can tell you that I'm not finished with these girls. I told you about my doubts and then I started to sketch again and I'm not done yet! Just to let you know....

the wonders of my world
This little blackbird is one of them. In some earlier post I already told you that we have a pretty big garden. Every morning I feed the birds at different spots in the garden. Since I've red that blackbirds prefer to eat their food of the ground instead in a nest box I'll put some food on the ground. The same place every morning. Since a couple of months a lady blackbird is already waiting for me, almost every morning. And now she's not scared of me and get's really close. She already jumps to the ground and sits about one meter away from me and waits untill I'm ready. If she's not there in the morning I really miss her. It's a good way to start the day! And I wish all of you a good start in the new week!
