and now what?

I finished number 3 of a white plate with a red girl. And now I'm thinking about what to do with them. With all the crockery I made in the last few months, continue or not.... You can find all the plates I made on the right site of this blog: labels: crockery. Well, I have to think about it for a while....

a new beginning...with good news!

In my first post of 2013 I can spread the news that Atelier Spunk's webshop is finally open! My plan was to go online two weeks before christmas, but that was a bit to optimistic... With starting problems and making the pieces and illustrations. There are now 9 rings and 5 necklaces available. If you want to have a look, click here or visit the facebook page.

And there was some other nice news which I got just before christmas: my other blog about food made it to the top 50 list of best FoodBlogs of 2012 by JustEat. I only started 4 months ago so this is nice to hear even if my blog entered the list at number 35.

I hope you all had a good start in this new year and I wish you all the best! Let's see what this year will bring!

I wish you all the very best for the next year, I hope it will be a creative one! And hopefully we see each other next year in this blog-universe;-)
So have a good time, were ever you celebrate and dance the night away!

one more or one less...

...Project!

This card made my dad for me for christmas. He let one of my Pippi's spread all the things I'm doing lately, all my different projects like the drawings, the crockery, necklaces and rings, the shop. I'm always worried if I don't do to much and if it all makes sence, because it's not one style and so on and on and on.... But now on this card it somehow does make sence and it just shows that I'm trying and working on it.  And maybe the projects aren't that different as I thought....

almost....

So I did not find that small door to escape which I drew in my last post. It has been busy, the gifst are wrapped, the cooking is almost done so I hope today I can draw a bit more and relax.
This is a picture I took of a nativity scene which is build every year across our street at a farm. There is a day-care at this farm for mental disabled kids and they made this figures. I really like them, especially the animals make me smile.

What I want to say to you all: I hope you have a very nice christmas together with people you love, some nice food and well...some presents! Wish you some wonderfull days!

fully underground

I know it's a cliche, but right now, during all this early-christmas-gifts-dinner-stress I want to disappear. Maybe I'll find a small door in a corner. You see: I have my handbag with me;-)

soup for christmas!

Between all the new projects I started I maneged to get the last 5 soup plates ready. I now have 6 dinner plates and 6 soup plates ready of the same crockery. Maybe I surprice my guests during christmas dinner with these plates... I wish you all good week and thanks to the ones who left a comment to the last post!

some tears, trials, tribulations for new stuff!

I don't know were to start, so much has happened, mostly in my head... and all of it about my art, and what art is and why some of it is so caled "high" or "important" art and some of it isn't and blablabla. Anyway: it all started with another cancellation for my drawings. I became kind of depressed, very sad and angry! Other people deside if my drawings are oke and if they are good enough or if they fir into their concept. So I decided to put some more energy in the other stuff I make: the things just for fun or just for friends.  The things that do not count in the art-world: the so-called hobby things... I was so tired of this discussion about art and the feeling about my other stuff, that they are not good enough or at least not in the world I want to fit in. So I decided all the stuff I make mathers and I just start something new, more "commercial". And I have fun doing it! So: I started a new label that goes by the name "Atelier Spunk" (atelier means as much as studio) and here you can find the jewelery I make. The shop isn't online yet, I hope it will be next week. I even updated my facebook-account which I ignored all these years... maybe some of you are out there as well, you'll find me here. And if you think it is a bit okay what I'm doing you can like the page of Spunk: www.facebook.com/atelierspunk.
Enough for now, more later on, I wish you all a nice weekend!

circle of life

I few weeks ago I told you about my visit to the Gaia Zoo. Now I want to show you a beautiful sculpure they own. The artist Roger Geraerdts made it. About two years ago you could see the "Elephants Parade" in the city Heerlen. The Elephants Parade is the world's largest open air exhibition of decorated elephant statues that seeks to attract public awareness and support for Asian elephant conservation. As an artist you get a grey elephant statue and you can do with it as you like. The wonderful thing about this sculpture is that you really have to look twice and then you'll see what's going on...He build a lion out of wood and iron around the elephant. I just think it's great. And apparently more people thought that so the Zoo ordered a baby sculpture.

drawing challenge

This weeks drawing challenge is hosted by WOOLF and her great theme is Cactus. I'm going more by her subtitle: "please, don't go sit on a cactus, ayayay! ooy!" I actually really like cacti, I have a lot of them and this year some of them got some really nice flowers. And if I got my fingers full of the cactus needles I always blame myself for being not that carefull, not the cactus!
For more drawings on this theme please go to the wonderful WOOLF's blog!

up and down around again

This drawing is based on one of those old wooden christmas-figures for in your christmas-tree. It's an angel sitting on a rocket.... It was not my design or idea;-) I post this because on sunday it's the first Advent, so count down to christmas! I wish you all a nice weekend.

I finished a new drawing. What do you think of this one?
For those of you who don't know how big these drawings are check out this post.
I wish you all a good week!

drawing challenge

This weeks drawing challenge is hosted by Patrice and she has this great theme: little red riding hood. This time I didn't make a drawing but a photo just because I finally saw a change to use a great little figure of mine. I don't know, I just think she is so sweet and funny at the same time, and different. And I think she can manage this situation: the sun is shining and that wolf... well... she can handle him;-)
For more little red riding hoods check out Patrice blog and I wish you a nice weekend!

favourite girl

Meet my favourite almost-every-day-girl. I have to pass her when I deliver my mail (my job to earn some money) in a small village.  She stands in front of a house which used to be a gallery but now it's a bed and breakfast. She's the only one who is left and I don't now the artist. I like her. I like the long legs and her socks and her orange hair. Maybe it's because she reminds me of my drawings.

happiness hit her

I've finished the dinner plates, now I started with the soup plates. First one is ready.
I wish you all a nice weekend!

shoplift a thought or two

Thank you for the nice comments on my birthday-post! I had a really nice weekend with family and friends, food and beautiful and sweet presents. So I welcome the new year!

And because of this I didn't had much time to draw, so today I show you a page of my "collecting-words-and-sentences-sketchbook". I collect sentences I read from newpapers, magazines, books and songtext. I love words, I'm just really bad in using them myself (that's why I draw;-), so I collect them and shuffle them an create new ones I use for the titles of my works. On the right page you can see my interest for woman's right or problem's...

hip, hip....

...Hurrah!

This weekend I celebrate my birthday: on sunday I'll turn 32...Celebrating my birthday gives me always a funny feeling. I don't like the numbers, because I don't feel like 32. It sounds like so much and in a way old (I now that you're all laughing out loud, those who are older then me;-) and at the same time I'm lucky to get older, I just have to think about my mother. That's way I look so funny in my selfportrait.

I wish you all a nice weekend and if you feel like it: check my other blog for what I'm going to do with my quests.

animals are always right

No, this is not my rabbit Pollock or a new friend of him (which would be nice) but a Belgian hare in the Gaia Zoo, where I spend my sunday moring. This zoo was started in 2005 and it's about 15 minutes by car from where we live. I don't like the concept of a zoo that much, especially the old fashion cages, but because this zoo is so new they have a new concept. They used nature environment and everything is made of wood or glass. No iron cages or weird rocks for lions but big places for the animals so there is a risk that you can't see them. And it's just great that it's so nearby that we can visit it anytime and see it develop and the newborn animals. And we can buy this cheap card which we can use the whole year. I couldn't resist: here are some more animal pictures:
