quite happily

Working on some more small paintings and some sketches. Just drawing and painting and it makes me happy!

and then we fell back out

My experiment continues: another three paintings with almost the same composition. I still don`t know what to think about the small paintings...

color and madness

Just drawing in my sketchbook and trying out the watercolours. I like to draw people, especially woman as you can see... If I have a good day when I'm drawing, I can forget time and place.

how the birds will sing

Today I had a visitor! We have a big garden with even a small forest at the end. I often saw the woodpecker over there but today he came all the way up to the pavement in front of the house! We put a part of a dead tree on the terras and he started to make a hole in the tree, which I think isn't very smart because of the neighbours cat... And there are much better places for him in the forrest, but it was nice to see him work.

waiting for a cloud

I continue with my experiment to make smaller paintings ( 18 x 24 cm, read my post "let's take life nice and easy" earlier this month). I try to make three paintings of the same composition but they are slightly different from each other. I already did this composition in a bigger painting (sitting on the fence, 150 x 100 cm) which you can find on my website.

one more or one less

My paintings are slowly taking over my home! The last paintings I did are now in the quest-room, so if someone wants to sleep over I first have to move my work...

visiting the zoo

In the first two years at art-school in Rotterdam, I had a drawing-teacher who took us to the zoo. We walked around with our sketchbooks and we had to draw the animals. It's a good way to practise your drawing skills. So I thought why not try it again?

birthday-girl

I made a collage of all the nice "self-made-things" people wrapt arround the presents.

words so sweet

I have a seperate sketchbook where I collect sentences. Things I read in magazines, books or parts of a songtext. I play with the text and combine them and so I find my titels for works.

it's quite a slow disaster

This painting I gave up... This also happens to artists and to art-works, but you normaly don't see the failures. It's now laying in my loft. Maybe I will use it someday, but only as a background or to sketch on it. My loft is getting pretty full. I use it as a storage for my work and my experiments.

sweeties

Sketching just for fun!

"crazy way to get your kicks,
shoot the sillicone in your lips.
If your figure makes you sad,
they suck the fat right off your back.
Make up your mind about your tits,
they can puff 'm up so no bra will fitt.
There's only one thing they can't fix,
and that's the hole in your head."

let's take life nice and easy

Three small paintings in inkt, paint and airbrush. (18 x 24 cm)
I would like to make smaller work, but I find it difficult to work so small. My "bigger" work is standing all over my house and they take so much space. I think I just have to get used to the smaller work...

maybe-baby

A lot of drawings I make end up in a drawer, because I don't think they are good enough. Years later I find them and maybe I find one I like now. Little objects I work on end up at my little table. The same for objects I find and maybe I'll use them later. Sometimes I do and sometimes the object will lay there for years...

and as the world moves faster...

...I try to find some time to draw and sketch. No time to start a new painting this week.

rabbit-lady

I bought this "rabbit-lady" at a flea market in Aachen (Germany). Off course it is no rabbit at all.
This object was used as a catapult, that's what the "ears" are used for. It is now standing in my studio, between the paint and I hope it gives me good ideas!

stich 'n bitch

Two weeks ago I thought I could try something different. Instead of painting I could stitch my work. Well...the above works are only 18 x 24 cm, but it was a hell of a job! And I'm not sure if it was worth the trouble...

rainy days...

...and even more rain is on the way. A good day to draw Pollock in watercolours in my sketchbook...

drip drop teardrop

Working at this painting I realised that I want to paint "brighter/lighter". Much more white in the background and the figures not that heavy in colour. I normaly airbrush the background and I now found out that you can do great things by using the spray colour as paint! Spray colour is so highly concentrated that it has a great effect and by using water it's gone in a minute. The only problem is that they are so expensive... But I haven't found a paint yet that has the same effect. The next painting will be an experiment.

Donnie Darko

Drawings in my sketchbook inspired by old paintings they found in caves. The paintings reminded me of rabbits. Now my drawings remind me more of Donnie Darko...

Not Jackson Pollock!

This is my rabbit Pollock. I named him after Jackson Pollock. My first "big" rabbit was named after Pipilotti Rist so I sticked with the P! I use Pollock to practise my drawing skills in my sketchbook. It's a great way to spend quiet time, really get to know the shape of another being and push your drawing skills. But I have to admit that I sometimes use photograph of him, because he usually walkes away before I even can draw his eye!
