Just to stay a little bit in the atmosphere of the last drawing challenge (burlesque), I show you one of my paintings with the title "waterfalls and booty calls".

This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Tania and what a theme! The last theme was "dance" and this week we dance a little slower, sensually and erotically: Burlesque! And I love it, as Tania said: "burlesque is sensuality, is feminity, is playing. Striptease without stripping off completely, showing and hiding, openness and secret, coquetry, frivolity, erotic without obscenity, joy of seduction."

full of play

This is a drawing of me and my sister, look carefully, then you'll see us. I'm the one waving at you! We had so much fun during our walk in a field a couple of years ago. We have to wait a bit untill summer before the grass is that high again, but the weather has been so nice the last couple of days that I think this is the perfect drawing to wish you all a wonderfull weekend!

This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Norma and her theme is "Egg", which fits perfectly so close before easter!
In the Netherlands we have these small, chocolade eggs in all kinds of flavours: white, dark, white-crisp, white-rasberry, dark-crisp, dark-rasberry, rasberry-caramel and so on and on. I think it's the same in other country's but I'm not sure so I explain it... Each flavour has his own colour where the chocolade is wrapped in. Just dark chocolate is mostly red, but this can be different in another store, which can be very confusing. You think you have your favourite taste, but this shop wrapped the caramel-pineappel in yellow instead of gold. We have really some easter problems over here! I based my drawing on that and let the girl search for her favourite small, chocolate treat...with a lot of concentration!

drawing challenge

This week host for the drawing challenge is Carole and her theme is "Willow".

Everytime I join a challenge and I'm not sure if I understand the theme correctly I google it to be sure. This time I thought about a beautiful drawing of a tree or a picture I could take outside of one the trees over here. But just to be sure I checked my dictionary and then googled the word for some inspiration. And what happend? Well, the first few pages are dominated by this girl Willow Smith, the daughter of Will Smith. I found that very interesting and I wondered about this girl with her always changing hairdo's, fashion statements and songs. How old is she? 12? And she looks already so very grown-up... So I let myself go with a hopefully very fashionable drawing of her ;-)

old habits die hard

I just notice that I always wear pink if I show you a picture of my drawings and I'm in it! mmm.... Well, I finished another one and I thought it's about time that I post another picture were you can see the size, it's been a long time;-) In my mind I already finished this one in Januar which turned out I hadn't so here it is now. And I can tell you that I'm not finished with these girls. I told you about my doubts and then I started to sketch again and I'm not done yet! Just to let you know....

This is the title of my new big drawing, made after I found an old sketch of the first drawings I wanted to make. I never made this one, because it has two girls in it (obviously...). Because I'm struggling were to take these drawings I really wanted to draw this one. I'm still not sure were to take it from here, but I don't think this is the worst of the drawings until now, haha! I looked trough my other older sketches and somehow I found a few which I think I still want to draw. In my last post about my drawings I asked myself what's the point of making more girls with wapens... the question is still here but I found some sketches which I find interesting to realize. So lets just wait and see. If you want to see all the drawings I made untill now you can check out my website. There're also some pictures were you can see how big they are in "real life".

Here are some pictures of my paintings hanging at the school. I totally forgot to take pictures as the exhibition opend, so there would be people in it. Now it looks a bit sad I think, but you can see my paintings very good this way, haha! The corridor is really grey so my paintings works well. There were a lot of people on saturday so I'm quite happy about it. My paintings stay there until the end of June.

I decided to put some of my things on Pinterest. It feels a bit like cleaning up and ordening my stuff, haha. So now you can find all the different things I make also over here. It's still a small selection but it will grow as well. You can also already find some of my older paintings I told you about in my last post. flow into silence

For now the snow and the cold are gone... I don't like that because we get rain instead. I like the world when she is white and everything has to slow down a bit. I would like to live Norway, or Sweden. I have this "thing" for those country's but I'm not sure if I would still like it if there is snow and cold for more as 6 months. This drawing is a bit of a "goodbye-winter" (it can of course still come back!), even if it's not very winterly, but for me they are slowly walking away...very quiet.

I don't know if you remember this painting, I made this one before I started to make the big drawings. This one is from 2011. This painting is my submission for a open call for an exhibition about self-portraits. The intention for this competion is to start a discussion about art. The organisation will take a closer look to the art-works of those people who have a discussion going on about their work. These works will make it to the exhibition... So if you feel like it or have any questions about this work or just want to tell what you see in this work, click here! You will see my entry and below you can spread your mind. drawing challenge

This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Stefanie and her theme is "crown" (check out her blog, her crown is wonderful!).
I made this drawing of a little girl, all dressed in pink with an also pink crown. Little girls and pink....prinsesses....all you see and hear in the media for girls is pink that that your little girl IS a princess. Now I don't mean this in a bad way, because off course your child is everything to you, but isn't it getting a little bit overboard? There are much more things girls can be and I think it's important that they know that. Please let more girls become strong princesses and not only dressed in pink!

bittersweet

This is a sketch of my mum and me. I drew it when we came back of a holiday in Finland in 2006. We went swimming and had so much fun with a underwatercamera and diving goggles. The sketch isn't very good but everytime I see it it makes me smile, because of the silly stuff we did. Today it's 5 years ago that she past away and I'm glad that I made this weird sketch of us.

I finished number 3 of a white plate with a red girl. And now I'm thinking about what to do with them. With all the crockery I made in the last few months, continue or not.... I want to say goodbye to you for this year. A lot happened, good and bad stuff and I realy shared a lot with you on this blog. And all I want to say is THANK YOU! To all of you who follow this blog, read it once in a while and sometimes even take the time to write a comment. I mean it when I say that it means a lot to me that you spend some of your time here. ...Project!

This card made my dad for me for christmas. He let one of my Pippi's spread all the things I'm doing lately, all my different projects like the drawings, the crockery, necklaces and rings, the shop. I'm always worried if I don't do to much and if it all makes sence, because it's not one style and so on and on and on.... But now on this card it somehow does make sence and it just shows that I'm trying and working on it.  And maybe the projects aren't that different as I thought....
