the kindest of kisses
I made this drawing after visiting the zoo and I wanted to post it for last weeks drawing challenge "Nature" (check tinyWoolf!). Animals and humans are nature as well and I think we should be nicer to them and ourselves, but that is another story. This drawing gives me a calm and nice feeling and I wanted to post it anyway. Mostly because I need to be calm: I'm a bit nervous about this weekend. The exhibition where one of my drawing is opends on saturday...
I wish you all a good weekend and thank you for your comments on my last post. I hope this group picture becomes real;-)

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is the lovely Nadine and her theme is "Nature". As I saw the invitation for this DC the first part of it was about our collective dream of meeting up and experiencing our weekly drawing challenge live! I was so exhited about this part and that Nadine really thought about it and wants to take it to the next level, that I made this drawing. I don't know you bloggers of the Dc in real live, but I imagine us meeting and having a wonderful time and this drawing could turn into a group photo;-) I wasn't sure if should post this drawing because the theme is "nature" but then I just gave the girl in the middle a shirt with some colourful, abstract flowers!
Please go to the tinyWoolf blog for more nature, and have a good weekend!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Norma and her theme is "farn". I thought about their big, green leaves and I immediately had to think about a girl holding a fan in front of her face. You know, like in the old days, haha! When it's really hot outside and you saw the women with an attitude blowing cold wind in their faces using a fan. Maybe it's because it's so hot over here at the moment that I had this idea while the theme is a plant....mmmm, that makes me think. Anyway, I just had to draw this girl, holding the leaves and some of the attitude is still there....
For more farn please go to the wonderful blog of Norma!

drawing challenge

This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Kristen and her theme is "Solstice". I think it's a beautiful theme and very well choosen for this time of the year. I had to think very hard what it meand to me, do I have traditions or mind sets with the changing seasons, do I have plans? Funny is that I always have to think about the word "midsummer" and country's like Sweden or Norway. Pictures of places where is doesn't get dark, dancing around tree's and fairy's, haha! I realized that I don't do anything special at this point of the year, only hoping that we get some kind of summer and a couple of nice days or even weeks! The last few years our summers in The Netherlands were really bad, before you knew it was already fall. We were happy with 6 days of sun! So for this solstice I dream of reading a good book while sitting in the grass, enjoy the sun and just let the time go by. Please give us some weeks of summer!
For more changing of the seasons please go the sunny spot (what a perfect name the blog has for this challenge!).

drawing challenge
This weeks host is Ariane and her theme is "mood bord". I never made a mood bord in the way it's ment to be I guess. I see myself as a walking mood bord, haha! My head is full of images for different situations and thinks I want to have or do. I have a book for my collection of words and text. My door to my studio is full of images as an inspiaration for my large "pippi" drawings. I collect pictures out of newspapers and magazines. I could have show you all of that, but the line that made me think in the invations of Ariane was "any projects like the redesign of a room or painting or visualisation of a plan for the future". I made a drawing of the visualisation of the future but not exactly: only halve of the plan. The other chair is ment to be for my boyfriend. We're planning to move in together. I don't know when or how it will happen and it's pretty exciting. I'm ready for it and at the same time I'm not, so that's why I'm still alone in the drawing.
For more mood bords go the Ariane's blog and I wish you all a good week!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Renilde and her theme is "key/hole". I don't know why, but I thought about a lot of rooms together, with a lot of keys, like hotels. Maybe because I need a break, haha! So I made a key that should keep people out of your room. Now I think about it, I made the opposite of a key. And I'm still a bit inspired by the last challenge about words. Well, I hope I could at least make you smile...
For more keys, go to the beautiful blog of Renilde!

drawing challenge
These weeks host of the drawing challenge is Patrice and her theme is Proverb or Saying. Or any other text or sentence that means something to you or in your work. Well.... I don't have a favourite sentence: I have a whole booklet! I already told you once that I collect sentences or text pieces that inspire me. I'm very bad with words, so I collect them and then make something new out of them. I always have been fascinated by drawings or paintings with text pieces in them. I also made a lot of these drawings. Especially the ones I make on the computer. I like to play with it and see where the text can fit into the drawing and become a part of it. Some of them become very personal and others have my theme: woman in art and how they are threated and judged and so on. My favourite line is "Whatever kind of art I'll make, it will be labeled feminine". Just to bad that that is my favourite one, but as long as I meet people who think that's important to tell me so, I feel the feminist inside me, haha! Also important: humor, as in the drawing on top. And a little bit in the second one, humor and a little bit true. And last but not least: a picture of one of the cabinets I made a few years ago, some of them I already posted. A combination of drawing and a small object. The text is "fuck geluk" in reversed writing which means fuck happiness in dutch, but in dutch it rhymes and sounds funny. I like it especially when I'm angry and those "happy people" irritate me, sorry...
I just noticed I wrote a lot here...mmmm, Patrice I think your theme made me think again about some things! Please check out her blog for all the players in this challenge!

drawing challenge
Liebe Stefanie, this one is for you! I hope you don't think or feel that I crossed a line here, that it's to personal, but I wanted to make a drawing for you and your brother Philipp. I hope you have some beautiful memories of you two and I tried to draw one: two children playing in the garden in the summer, posing for their father or mother who wants to take a picture. Of course I don't know how you two looked like as children, so I made them a little abstact. I want to give you something happy and not sad.
For more participants, please visit Stefanie's beautiful blog!

Before the real challenge
The next drawing challenge is hosted by Stefanie and she has a theme that can be interpreted in many, many ways: Philipp, a fillip. I thought, Philipp means the friend of horses. So you might let yourself be inspired by...? The music and the lyrics by muse, the name, your brother, a horse, a fingerplay, isn´t that fillip enough?
So I just finished this drawing for my society6 shop and I thought that it just fitted perfectly in a weird way to post it as a early input, haha! If you like this one, you can order it at my shop as a t-shirt, bag, pillow or print.

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Barbara and her theme is "smell"! A very interesting one because smell has everything to do with feelings and senses and what it does to you. You can smell something and remember something you thought you forgot, or travel back in time to your childhood. There are a lot of beautiful smells, like rain after a sunny day, or the smell of your skin in the sun, fresh baked bread or appels with cinamon. As I started drawing I realized my drawings are not that positive as the things I thought of... I let you decided;-) I think it has to do with the fact that my sense of smell, lets just say it's very well developed, the same goes for my sense of hearing. So it can turn into something negative very fast, even nice smells or sounds. I drive the people arround me crazy sometimes because they can't smell or hear it.
For more "smelly" things check out Barbara's blog, I'll see you there!

drawing challeng
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Tania and what a theme! The last theme was "dance" and this week we dance a little slower, sensually and erotically: Burlesque! And I love it, as Tania said: "burlesque is sensuality, is feminity, is playing. Striptease without stripping off completely, showing and hiding, openness and secret, coquetry, frivolity, erotic without obscenity, joy of seduction."
I like the clothes, the music and the fun of it and one of the queens of burlesque Dita von Teese.
For more Burlesque please go to Tania's blog and enjoy, I know I'm curious!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Patrice and her fantastic theme is "Dance". I can not tell you how much I love to dance...oh yes I can tell you and I already did at this post, so if you want to read about my love for dancing give it a go! So I don't have to tell you how happy I am with this theme and I just had to post my "little tango bunny". Some of you know her already, but she's perfect for this challenge. She also has a sexy big sister:
If you want to see the versions of these computer-drawings made with watercolour, acrylic and airbrush click here.
For more "dance" go to Patrice's blog and let's dance!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Nadine from the wonderful tinyWoolf blog. And what a challenge it is this week! Her theme is "in the line of beauty" and I thought about it all week. You can take this challenge in so many directions, so many interpretations that I almost got lost in my own head, haha! And I don't know if I made this one easy for me or really hard. I found out that beauty for me has everything to do with personal feelings, like finding old pictures of an art-experiment where I'm wearing my mother's wedding dress on a swing, which didn't mean a thing at that time, but it does now. Bautiful flowers in the garden, sweet Pollock kissing my little sister, cuddling with friendly animals, drawing pictures of me and my mom, dancing. Being a little proud of yourself of the things you make, even if that's hard, getting a beautiful smile from the one you love. A bad picture of the moon, but you remember how beautiful it was at the time. My so loved stuffed sheep. Getting beautiful cards of wonderful blog friends. Being sick and getting better and turn it into something good for other people and discover on the way that you're doing not so bad with your own food-problems. A hand-made card for your birthday. Beauty lies in so many things, sometimes you need a challenge to see it!
For more beauty please go to tinyWoolf!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Norma and her theme is "Egg", which fits perfectly so close before easter!
In the Netherlands we have these small, chocolade eggs in all kinds of flavours: white, dark, white-crisp, white-rasberry, dark-crisp, dark-rasberry, rasberry-caramel and so on and on. I think it's the same in other country's but I'm not sure so I explain it... Each flavour has his own colour where the chocolade is wrapped in. Just dark chocolate is mostly red, but this can be different in another store, which can be very confusing. You think you have your favourite taste, but this shop wrapped the caramel-pineappel in yellow instead of gold. We have really some easter problems over here! I based my drawing on that and let the girl search for her favourite small, chocolate treat...with a lot of concentration!
Please check out Norma's blog for some more eggs and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

drawing challenge
This week host for the drawing challenge is Carole and her theme is "Willow".
Everytime I join a challenge and I'm not sure if I understand the theme correctly I google it to be sure. This time I thought about a beautiful drawing of a tree or a picture I could take outside of one the trees over here. But just to be sure I checked my dictionary and then googled the word for some inspiration. And what happend? Well, the first few pages are dominated by this girl Willow Smith, the daughter of Will Smith. I found that very interesting and I wondered about this girl with her always changing hairdo's, fashion statements and songs. How old is she? 12? And she looks already so very grown-up... So I let myself go with a hopefully very fashionable drawing of her ;-)
Please chech out Carole's blog for some more Willows!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is the lovely Patrice and her theme is "moon". I tell you right away that my entry is nothing I made. This is a painting my dad made. When I saw this weeks theme "moon" I just had to think about my dad and the only thing I could do is show you a painting made by him. I don't know why, everything that has to do with the moon, stars or the universe makes me think of him. He made quite some works with stars and the moon, although I thought it where a lot more, so that was funny... maybe because he used the colour blue a lot? Listen to the dark side of the moon? Has a lot of books of the universe? I don't know...but it just felt wrong to make something myself.
I wish you all a nice weekend and for more "moons" check out Patrice's blog!

drawing challenge
This weeks host for the drawing challenge is Stefanie and her theme is "crown" (check out her blog, her crown is wonderful!).
I made this drawing of a little girl, all dressed in pink with an also pink crown. Little girls and pink....prinsesses....all you see and hear in the media for girls is pink that that your little girl IS a princess. Now I don't mean this in a bad way, because off course your child is everything to you, but isn't it getting a little bit overboard? There are much more things girls can be and I think it's important that they know that. Please let more girls become strong princesses and not only dressed in pink!
For more crowns, please take a look at Stefanie's blog.

drawing challenge
This weeks drawing challenge is hosted by WOOLF and her great theme is Cactus. I'm going more by her subtitle: "please, don't go sit on a cactus, ayayay! ooy!" I actually really like cacti, I have a lot of them and this year some of them got some really nice flowers. And if I got my fingers full of the cactus needles I always blame myself for being not that carefull, not the cactus!
For more drawings on this theme please go to the wonderful WOOLF's blog!

drawing challenge
This weeks drawing challenge is hosted by Patrice and she has this great theme: little red riding hood. This time I didn't make a drawing but a photo just because I finally saw a change to use a great little figure of mine. I don't know, I just think she is so sweet and funny at the same time, and different. And I think she can manage this situation: the sun is shining and that wolf... well... she can handle him;-)
For more little red riding hoods check out Patrice blog and I wish you a nice weekend!

drawing challenge
This weeks drawing challenge is hosted by the lovely Mano and she has a great theme: driftwood!
I absolutely love wood and in particular the wood I find. In our home we have lots of wood we found and we made things out of it or just put it somewhere as decoration. I also love furniture made of driftwood, my dream is to have a nice cupboard made of it. For this challenge I tried something new: I took a photo and put it together with a drawing of mine. I like the atmosphere in it. For more driftwood inputs check out Mano's blog! (which you should do anayway!).
And to start the weekend: some changes on my blog!
